Single portrait - Natural Light.

For this assignment focus on your subject and the quality of natural light. Please try to eliminate other compositional challenges for example background (we'll deal with that later).

Think about Hard Light vs Soft Light.

Hard Light - characterized by hard shadows, high contrast. Extremely bright highlights, extremely dark shadows. Can be very dramatic.

Soft Light - characterized by soft shadows. Low contrast. Difference between highlight and shadows is very minimal. Can be soothing, soft, comfort.

The position of your subject is key. And will depend on your subject. However, be sure to compose varied position.
1)Full body
2)Half body
3) Three-quarter /45 degree angle
4) close-up
5) Profile etc.

Don't shoot just one position. You need to shoot many.

Lastly, THE EYES. Pay special attention the your subjects eyes. Where are they?
